Efficient Liquid-Solid Separation with GN Separation’s High-Speed Tubular Centrifuge

When it comes to clarifying liquids with low solid content or separating fine particles, tubular centrifuges offer a practical and reliable solution. At GN Separation, the high-speed tubular centrifuge is designed to provide consistent performance for applications in a range of industries, including food and beverage, chemical processing, and biotechnology.

Key Operating Principles

GN’s high-speed tubular centrifuge is a vertical type separation unit that operates at speeds up to 15,000 RPM, generating a centrifugal force of up to 16,000×g. The tubular bowl, which rotates at high speed, creates a strong centrifugal field that pushes solid particles outward to the inner wall of the bowl, while the clarified liquid flows through the center and exits from the top.

Because the solids remain attached to the inner wall of the bowl, the machine requires a shutdown and manual cleaning after each operation cycle. Despite this, the unit offers a straightforward mechanical structure and user-friendly maintenance routine, making it well-suited for batch operations with relatively low solid content (typically below 1%).

Practical Applications

The GN tubular centrifuge is commonly used in:

  • Plant and herbal extraction processes, for clarifying mixtures such as plant oils, pigment suspensions, and natural extracts.

  • Biotechnology and pharmaceutical production, where it helps separate microbial cells, yeast, proteins, or other biological solids from fermentation broth or nutrient liquids.

  • Food and beverage industry, for purifying beverages or separating impurities from essential oils and flavor concentrates.

  • Fine chemical processing, where precise clarification is required.

Features and Design

The machine is made from corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel to ensure cleanliness and durability. Safety mechanisms including vibration protection and overload protection are incorporated to maintain stable operation. The compact vertical design allows for space-efficient installation, while the solid-liquid separation is performed without the need for complex filters or additional consumables.

Summary

GN Separation’s high-speed tubular centrifuge offers a dependable choice for users who need efficient clarification of liquids with minimal solid content. It is particularly useful where precision and clarity are important, such as in the biotechnology, chemical, and food sectors. While manual cleaning is required after each use, the centrifuge compensates with its consistent performance and simple operation.

For those seeking a separation solution for fine particles and clear liquids, GN Separation welcomes the opportunity to support your processing needs.

Two GNOST-15 Oily Sludge Treatment Systems Shipped to Asian Client

GN Separation is pleased to announce the successful shipment of two complete GNOST-15 oily sludge treatment systems to a valued client in Asia. These systems are designed for the efficient separation and recovery of oil, water, and solids from a variety of oily sludge sources such as refinery waste, tank bottom sludge, and drilling waste.

Integrated Modular Design for High-Volume Sludge Treatment

Each GNOST-15 system is designed to handle up to 15 cubic meters of oily sludge per hour, featuring a comprehensive, hot-wash separation process. The systems are fully skid-mounted, modular, and ready for plug-and-play operation on site. Each set includes the following modules:

1. Feeding Pump Module

Responsible for transferring the oily sludge from the collection site into the treatment process using a vacuum or progressive cavity pump, ensuring continuous and safe delivery.

2. Premixing Tank Module

A heated and agitated tank used to precondition the sludge with water and chemicals. This step helps reduce viscosity and loosens the oil from solids.

3. Coarse Screening Module (Vibrating Screen)

High G-force vibrating screens remove large debris and coarse particles, protecting downstream equipment and improving overall system efficiency.

4. GNLW-554 Two-Phase Decanter Centrifuge Module

Performs solid-liquid separation. The high-speed decanter centrifuge separates the de-oiled solids from the liquid phase, significantly reducing the oil content in the discharged solids.

5. GNLWS-554 Three-Phase Decanter Centrifuge Module

Further separates the remaining liquid into three phases: recoverable oil, clean water, and fine solids, completing the final polishing step of the process.

6. Chemical Dosing Unit

Automatically delivers flocculants, demulsifiers, and pH conditioners to enhance separation efficiency and emulsion breaking.

7. Steam Generator Module

Provides the necessary heat for the entire hot-wash process, helping to reduce viscosity and improve oil recovery rates.

Proven Performance in the Field

GNOST-15 is part of GN’s scalable oily sludge treatment family, ranging from 1 m³/h to 15 m³/h. The shipment of two complete units demonstrates growing global trust in GN’s technology for sustainable sludge handling and oil recovery.

With its modular layout and proven mechanical-chemical synergy, this system not only maximizes oil recovery, but also minimizes waste, making it an ideal solution for clients seeking compliance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

GN Separation is committed to delivering reliable, high-performance separation equipment for global industries. We look forward to supporting more clients in Asia and around the world with tailored sludge treatment solutions.
