GN Disc Stack Separator machine application on Philippines VCO project

1.Philippines VCO Project background and introduction

Philippines VCO projects to be funded by the Philippine government for the next 50 years with a yearly budget of about UD$ 9M. We working in this since 2015 but the law was only enacted and signed 2 years ago and the implementing rules only approved in 2022. The initial fund of US$ 9M was released June 2022 but the government agency tasked to implement and bid out the projects failed to complete the bidding documents.

We recommended the “design and build” approach in selecting suppliers instead of buying individual machines from various suppliers. There is a confidential document called terms of reference or TOR which can be used as one of the bidding documents by the government agency in charge of the coconut projects. We’ve incorporated GN specs for 2x disc separators and 1x tubular separator in each project. Since the US$ 9M was not used in 2022, this money reverts back to the government and can no longer be accessed for subsequent years. A new budget of US$ 9M is released for 2023. Up to this date, the government is not yet ready to bid out but they are now pressured to use the budget for this year, otherwise, the Philippine Senate will start investigating why they are not able to set up 5-10 coconut processing plants each year. Based on the process flow we’ve submitted to the government, each project will need at least 2 disc centrifuges and 1 tubular centrifuge.

2.GN Disc Stack Separator machine brief introduction.

The disc stack separator is also called disc separator, disc centrifuge or conical plate centrifuge, which belongs to a type of vertical centrifuge. The disc separator is driven by a motor and rotates at high speed. In the bowl of the disc separator, there is a set of disc-shaped parts nested with each other-commonly known as discs which are used for centrifugal sedimentation of materials. The suspension (or emulsion) to be processed enters the bowl of the disc separator through the feed pipe and flows through the gap between the discs, the solid particles (or droplets)settle on the disc under the action of the centrifuge to form a sediment (or liquid layer).

The sludge slides along the surface of the disc to separate from the disc and accumulates in the inner bowl where the d犀利士
iameter is large, and the separated liquid is discharged from the bowl through the liquid outlet. By using the disc separator, solid-liquid-liquid 3-phase separation or solid-liquid separation is realized.
